About the Studio
St’Valent is a New York based art studio that focuses on developing experimental techniques for creating modern stained glass. Inspired by the natural environment, the studio creates glass artwork that depicts the ephemeral beauty of the earth.
This new manufacturing method harmonizes modern machinery with the medieval tradition of painting stained glass using handmade paints and precious enamel. This process allows the paintings to capture narratives in colored light at a new level of fine detail without sacrificing durability. Inspired by the aesthetic language of medieval church facades and the intricacy of the Art Nouveau movement, each glass painting is a unique and personal narrative reflected through colored light.
In an effort to revive stained glass in the modern home, St’Valent’s recent work focuses on blurring the boundaries between natural and urban environments. Brought to life by sunlight, these glass paintings continuously transform to strike a balance between light, shadow, and the colors in between.
